  • 500 g chicken thighs, with skin and bone, cut in pieces (4 cm x 4 cm)
  • 5 dried chillies
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 15 g fresh ginger, sliced
  • 2 tsp tamarind paste, seedless
  • 5 tbsp water
  • ¼ tsp ground turmeric
  • 3 tbsp yoghurt
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 onion, cut in quarter
  • 60 g ghee
  • 2 sprigs curry leaves, deveined
  • 2 tsp jaggery sugar
