  • 2 pinches freshly ground black pepper
  • 100 g Egyptian rice
    or 100 g short-grain rice
  • 1900 g water
  • 1 tsp chicken stock paste, homemade
    or 1 chicken stock cube (for 0.5 l)
  • 170 g bread, toasted, in pieces
  • 10 sprigs fresh parsley, leaves only
  • 10 sprigs fresh coriander, roughly chopped
  • 100 g onions, cut into halves
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 5 apricots, fresh or dried, pitted and cut into halves
  • 55 g pitted dates
  • 60 g raisins
  • 50 g pine nuts, toasted
  • 1 tsp sumac
