Search for "chicken" on Cookidoo® for your dinner inspiration. From fuss-free midweek chicken dinners to weekend roasts, we have it all. Chicken is easy to prepare and nutritious to eat, a go-to ingredient that can be stewed, steamed, baked, fried, shredded and curried. And since we know that life can get stressful and you sometimes don't have a lot of time and energy to cook, here are some chicken dinner ideas that will be on the table in 30 minutes!
• Boneless Chicken Breast is tender and delicate. For a succulent result, steam in Varoma. You can pan-fry the breasts first for colour, then steam in the Varoma tray lined with parchment paper to catch the steaming juices. This makes a delicious sauce when added to the pan drippings.
• Legs and Thighs are juicy and flavourful. Get better results cooking low and slow, or marinating the meat before cooking.
• Current food safety recommends not to wash or rinse chicken before cooking, to avoid splashing bacteria in the sink area.
• Make a nutritious chicken stock by placing chicken bones and any leftover skin in the simmering basket and covering with water. Add aromatic herbs and vegetables and cook for 1 hour. Remove the simmering basket with spatula and discard the bones. The delicious stock can then be used to flavour soups, sauces, risotto and stews.
• Don’t let leftover cooked chicken go to waste!: take it off the bone and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Shred chicken and add to salads, sandwiches, fajitas or wraps. It’s also delicious in stir-fries, soups and risottos.
• Steaming whole chicken in the Varoma keeps it wonderfully moist and flavourful. As an added bonus, you can prepare another dish in the mixing bowl at the same time! For an easy two-course meal, cook a soup in the mixing bowl while the chicken steams above. Thanks to the chicken juices dripping down, the soup will be full of flavour.
