Ingredients

  • 31 ½ oz water, divided
  • 2 oz tamari sauce, to taste
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vegetable stock paste
  • 3 oz green onions, cut into pieces, plus extra, sliced to garnish
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ½ tsp Chinese five spice
  • ¼ tsp dried chili flakes
    or 1 dried red chili
  • 10 ½ oz fresh mixed mushrooms (e.g. button, shiitake, trumpet, cremini, king oyster), sliced
  • 1 oz extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 7 oz jasmine rice
  • 3 ½ oz zucchini, sliced into half moons (½ in.)
  • 3 ½ oz carrot, julienned
  • 3 ½ oz Chinese cabbage leaves, sliced (½ in)
  • 3 oz baby corn, drained (optional)
  • 3 oz bean sprouts, fresh
  • toasted sesame oil, to drizzle
  • sesame seeds, to garnish
  • 4 dried red chilies, to garnish (optional)
